Lynyrd Skynyrd are a legendary, multi platinum-selling rock band from Jacksonville, Florida. After forming in 1964, the band spent the bulk of that decade touring under a multitude of names before settling on their famous moniker and releasing their debut album, (Pronounced 'Lĕh-'nérd 'Skin-'nérd), in 1973. The following year, Lynyrd Skynyrd dropped their sophomore followup, the appropriately-titled Second Helping (1974), featuring their signature song “Sweet Home Alabama.” Between that Top 10 hit and fan favorite tracks like “Free Bird,” “Simple Man” and “Tuesday’s Gone,” the band became pioneers of the Southern rock genre throughout the ‘70s.
