He Says

 

The sun blazed down on that hot spring day in May 1981, making the air shimmer around the 1993rd Communications Squadron, Dyess AFB. I’m in the barracks, and it’s midday. The nerves buzzed as a new recruit arrived. I felt a strange excitement, unaware that this newcomer would one day become the love of my life—my wife-to-be, though she was just a stranger then.

 

She entered the hallway, passing more than forty rooms before reaching her assigned spot. Today, I'd call it Galkers Row. Carla ended up right across the hall from me. If memory serves, from the moment she saw me, she never looked back.

She Says

 

Whatever. Mike’s a little right. His looks did sweep me off my feet; I won’t deny it. But let’s be clear—I was no hussy, at least not for the first two weeks! 😉

 

We’ve moved on and blossomed together. I believe it’s our honest conversations and sincere attention to each other’s needs that have kept our bond strong. With two beautiful children and thriving careers, we share a life brimming with laughter, challenges, and deep love. And by the way—I’m the one who holds the key to our happiness. Don’t ever forget it.
